Letter: Upset about Rihanna and Chris Brown

I would like to applaud Anne Michaud's column "Uneasy about Chris Brown and the Grammys" [Opinion, Feb. 21].
I think Chris Brown and Rihanna reconnecting after he beat her up three years ago is not a good thing. This was a most appalling attack on a woman. Their reunion really sends the wrong message to our young people.
My wife, in her first marriage, was in an abusive relationship with a man who would beat her when he was drunk. She stayed in the marriage for 10 years because of her daughter and because she had nowhere else to go. She finally left and became stronger for it.
Domestic violence is out of control. Just the other day a man allegedly ran over his girlfriend several times, killing her. This violence has to stop. Our mothers, sisters, daughters and girlfriends deserve to feel safe and respected.
