Congratulations to the Patchogue-Medford school district for doubling the amount of recess time in kindergarten through fifth grade [“More time for play,” News, Sept. 12]. Even 5- to 11-year-olds need a break!

I hope the district waits at least a year or two to see the positive results, and doesn’t back down because of criticism. Other districts should look at the potential for positive results, including better test scores.
