Letter: What if presidential vote lands in court?

Americans’ memories are too short. Have we forgotten that in 2000, the Supreme Court played a decisive role in who would be president, and therefore our role in history, such as the war in Iraq?
The court stepped into the fray in regard to Florida’s ballot-counting failure.
I may be concerned about who gets elected this November, but we all should be frightened about the prospect of some voting irregularity or result that reaches a Supreme Court of only eight members [“GOP senator meets with court nominee Garland,” News, March 30]. We could end up without a president-elect.
