Letter: Why wait for the bay to flood LI?

The writer of “Climate change is a lesser concern” is bewildered that world leaders met in Paris to consider solutions to the threat of global warming, while they are faced with terrorism and violence [Letters, Dec. 31].
He will be bewildered by Great South Bay sweeping over his backyard in the not-too-distant future. Why didn’t the world leaders meet to prevent this act of terrorism by Mother Nature?
The large increase of carbon dioxide since the Industrial Revolution is a fact and exactly matches the worldwide increase in temperature that we have experienced.
