My hat is off to David M. Navarra of Shelter Island Heights [“Cops: Driver threatens litterbug,” News, April 8].
I would like to have been with him when he chased the litterers and told them to drive back and pick up a napkin thrown from a car.
Every day I walk the perimeter of my corner property and pick up anything from tissues to dirty diapers that inconsiderate people discard from vehicles. The world is upside-down when a concerned citizen is charged with harassment and the litterer walks.
I will gladly pay Navarra’s fine.
