I'm all for the political process, however I vote to find a way to stop the barrage of mail and phone calls from our politicians and their political action committees ["Too many calls from politicians," Letters, Nov. 5]. Over two weeks, I received on average of five to 10 phone calls a day from political campaigns. My mail was inundated.

Shouldn't the "do not call" registry protect us?

As I watched our candidates for governor mercilessly bash each other with negative ads on TV, it dawned on me that these same leaders are first in line to denounce "bullying"! Quite the hypocrites!

Another election cycle is mercifully done. Perhaps the most annoying aspect is the candidate lawn sign.

Surely the original intent was for a candidate's supporters to place one sign in their front yards, or perhaps in their business windows, to express support. But as I drive around, the quantity of these signs is simply intolerable. At one intersection, I saw 20 lawn signs, and 14 were for the same candidate.

I just returned from voting, and it was not pleasant. My polling place, the Bethlehem Assembly of God church in Valley Stream, is like a bat cave.

Since we went to electronic voting, I've brought the problem of lack of illumination to the attention of the Nassau County Board of Elections. I had hoped this time things would be different; they weren't.

Statistics show that seniors like me exercise the right to vote in higher numbers. But many of us have vision problems.
