Kudos to Mark Wilson for his op-ed, "Frack checking" [Opinion, June 24]. He did a wonderful job of explaining the potential threat posed by hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. His research will be invaluable when I discuss the topic with friends.
All of New York should be protected from the dangers of fracking, including those in Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's proposed fracking zone in the state's Southern Tier.
The decision to sacrifice counties in the Southern Tier, which rests with the governor, is a bad political decision that would wind up as a black mark on his legacy.

I am in complete agreement with Mark Wilson's op-ed. I urge Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo to ban this dangerous and questionable energy source.
Some communities that have allowed this technology have suffered contaminated water. When a match is lit under a home water tap, a flame erupts.
Let us listen to the scientists, who do not have a stake in the profits of a questionable technology, and prevent a crisis instead of causing a new one.
