Thank you for publishing the op-ed by Lilli Platt exposing the hypocrisy of the International Olympic Committee ["An inexcusable refusal to remember," Opinion, July 27].

In refusing to hold a moment of silence in memory of the 11 Israelis murdered by Palestinian terrorists in Munich in 1972, IOC president Jacques Rogge said that it could not be done because of the IOC's Arab and Muslim member countries. That should make our blood run cold.

People who do nothing and say nothing in the face of evil are the root cause for the senseless slaughter of human beings we still witness nearly 70 years after the Holocaust. If Newsday continues to expose injustice and cowardice with pieces like Platt's, perhaps the world will take notice.

If the IOC can't spare one small moment of silence for the 11 murdered Israeli athletes, then I won't spare a moment to watch the proceedings or patronize the sponsors. Thank you, Newsday, for your thoughtful observance and for printing Lilli Platt's striking op-ed.
