Just Sayin': There's no stopping LI's bad drivers

After reading “Fed up with LI drivers,” I couldn’t agree more with those readers [Just Sayin’, Aug. 20].
Recently, I was waiting for a friend to have breakfast, and as I sat in the parking lot of the diner in North Babylon, I could see a street with a stop sign. I counted at least 10 cars, two dump trucks and two landscape trucks that approached the stop sign without any of them stopping at the stop sign. Nor did any put on a turn signal.
I guess the stop sign is only a recommendation. I have seen this time and time again. It is at those times that I wish I was a police officer.
After breakfast, I saw on Pinelawn Road in Melville a guy speeding, weaving in and out of traffic only to stop at a red light. I pulled up next to him and thought, “OK, so you put others in danger, you wasted gas, and I caught up with you.”
It’s a sad commentary of the state of things today.

I’ve read all the complaints in Newsday letters regarding bad drivers and agree with all of them. Long Island drivers are simply dangerous. What to do?
The sooner we replace every vehicle driven by humans with robo-driven vehicles, the better. No matter how imperfect the robo-drivers might be, they can’t possibly be worse than what we have now.

Why not install cameras on the Long Island Expressway to record all the maniac drivers who refuse to follow the rules regarding HOV lane entering and exiting?
Both Nassau and Suffolk counties can probably take in plenty of extra money.

Send migrants’ buses to Mar-a-Lago instead
A reader wrote that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott should send busloads of migrants looking for asylum to the Delaware home of President Joe Biden “Send migrants to Delaware,” Just Sayin’, Aug. 20].
How about we send them to Mar-a-Lago since it is a massive property with lots of housing. Almost no one seems to be staying there during the summer, and there are many buildings to house the people Texas is sending to other states.
There probably would be jobs available, with a need for housekeeping, landscaping and maintenance staffs. It’s a win-win!

Would tailgaters for Biden stir people?
Just one question for the woman complaining about the tailgaters at Jimmy Buffett’s Jones Beach concerts becoming political because of all the support she has seen there for former President Donald Trump the past six years “Don’t turn concerts into political rallies,” Just Sayin’, Aug. 20].
If she had seen all that support for President Joe Biden, would she feel the same way?
