MacArthur a gem of an airport

I was very disappointed to read that Frontier Airlines was eliminating routes from Islip to New Orleans, Miami and Fort Myers, Florida [“Frontier Airlines to end 2 Florida routes from MacArthur,” News, Feb. 6]. Although, it’s a plus that the airline is adding routes to Myrtle Beach and San Juan.
Long Island MacArthur Airport used to be a very convenient and active airport with several airlines and many destinations. It has been struggling in recent years to get back on track, with the addition of Frontier Airlines last May.
The population of Nassau and Suffolk counties is nearly 3 million. Promoting this gem of an airport would be in the best interest of all Long Islanders.
