Matt Whitaker’s new post a problem

President Donald Trump appoints an acting attorney general, Matt Whitaker, who has publicly spoken about his disdain for the judicial branch, calling it “inferior.”
Whitaker has already expressed his opinion about the investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller into Russia’s meddling into the 2016 campaign. Whitaker’s qualification for his job appears to be that he was chief of staff to former Attorney General Jeff Sessions. We knew that Trump planned to dismiss Sessions after the midterm elections. He couldn’t use that time to find an impartial person with extensive legal experience instead of another partisan lightweight with a frighteningly obvious agenda?

While rightly concerned about Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker’s bias on the Russia investigation, many people are missing a more important issue that should be bipartisan.
He worked for a company under investigation by the FBI, a law enforcement agency he now oversees. Federal authorities are investigating a $26 million fraud at World Patent Marketing. Whitaker used his prior credentials as a U.S. attorney in promotional videos for the company, essentially providing a false sense of comfort to investors. As the company liquidated to pay back clients, including many veterans, he appears to have refused a request to return fees he earned from the company.
Is it acceptable to have Whitaker run the U.S. Department of Justice? This cannot possibly be the best we can do.

“I can tell you Matt Whitaker’s a great guy. I mean, I know Matt Whitaker,” President Donald Trump said last month. “I don’t know Matt Whitaker,” he said Nov. 9. As Judge Judy always says, “You don’t need a good memory, if you always tell the truth.”
