Musings: 'New' Medicare card? Look out!

All seniors should be aware of a Medicare phone fraud attempt taking place. I recently received a call from Yaphank and was told I was being issued a new Medicare card.
I was asked for my Medicare card number as well as my address, which I didn’t verify. I told the caller that Medicare should have my address, and then the caller provided it.
I found out from AI that this is a new fraud. Seniors should never give cold callers their Medicare card number or Social Security number, of course. Medicare does not issue unrequested new cards.
I reported the call.
