When was the last time one of our elected officials visited their local Department of Motor Vehicles?

Recently, I had an appointment to visit the DMV office in Garden City to get my government-issued photo ID card in case I need to board a plane. When I arrived at the window, though, my driver’s license was not enough identification. I was told they needed my passport, too. So I returned home to retrieve it, and after waiting again, I finally received a temporary ID.

A few days later, my daughter had an appointment to get her card. She went armed — with her driver’s license, passport, and birth certificate. But she was told to go home to retrieve her Social Security card for identification.

Is there a deal between the state and gas companies to increase the use of gasoline?
