Letter: Pothole repairs don't last a week

Nassau County residents pay some of the highest local taxes in the country, and I believe I recently witnessed one place that our tax money is wasted.
I saw a Town of Hempstead road repair crew filling potholes on Foxhurst Road in Oceanside and Baldwin. I didn't see the crew tamp down or steamroll the asphalt patches. Within days, the patches were again potholes. I saw another crew backfilling more potholes along the same road.
How hard is it to fill a pothole properly so that the repair lasts more than a week?
