Provide more info on officials’ positions

I was happy to see “Albany raises? A local roll call” [Opinion, Nov. 19]. Newsday published the names, districts and political affiliations of state senators who want to vote themselves a raise and their positions on banning outside income.
This type of coverage should be a regular inclusion in Newsday, in the same place in each issue. Newsday can make politics more transparent, and we can hold politicians answerable for their actions. I would clip each column and keep them for Election Day.
People on fixed incomes cannot vote themselves raises even if they promise to cap their outside income. Some seniors cannot even afford bus fare. Out-of-touch legislators only have to go to the local supermarket and see seniors struggling to afford the basics.
