Musings: Reflective vests a bright idea

In eastern Suffolk, where many roads do not have sidewalks, I see only a small percentage of recreational walkers wear high-visibility clothing.
As a walker and a driver, I realize the need for wearing high-visibility protection. At under $10, buying a reflective vest is a great investment for walkers.
And especially if a sidewalk is not available, pedestrians are supposed to walk on the left side of a road, facing oncoming traffic. This allows them to see approaching vehicles.
Bicyclists, of course, should stay on the right side of two-way roads in the same direction of vehicle traffic. And wearing a reflective vest is a smart idea there, too.
