Letter: Restore swastika as peace symbol

As an individual of Jewish heritage, I applaud the efforts to rehabilitate the swastika ["Swastika banner outrage," News, July 13].
The swastika has been a symbol of good luck throughout Asia for millennia. There are temples in India that are covered with swastikas, and it has nothing to do with the Nazi regime. Nobody is trying to rehabilitate Adolf Hitler or the Nazis.
Symbols have power. Let us take our power back from the hateful and intolerant.
