Steven Zhang's methodical deconstruction of our obsession with social media strikes a blow for privacy, civility and, yes, decorum ["The real social media message: 'Look at me!'" Opinion, June 23].

Why must we be subjected to the quotidian minutiae of others' Facebook bloviations? One befriends a person over time, not as a result of incessant ego-driven drivel. And should every visceral impulse or narcissistic urge be grist for the mill on Twitter?
