I remember a time when driving regulations were actually enforced. They included no tinted windows, and mufflers were mandated to be within a certain noise limitation.

And yes, we still do have speed limits. Today's vehicles, though, have plenty of power and speed — just look at the TV commercials.

Today, no controls seem to be adhered to for noise limitations. Some mufflers seem to be the size of cannons. The bigger the better. And good luck, as well, seeing through the windows of some cars flying by.

We need clear-cut, public restrictions as well as interaction with police. Penalties should be stiff enough to stop this or at least attempt to deter violators.

Oh, one more thing: It is almost comical to see overhead electronic parkway signs warning drivers "to be aware of motorcycles." It's difficult to do so as they fly by going at least 80-90 mph.
