10 -- That's how many years the United States has been at war in Afghanistan -- the longest war in our history. While the plan is for most troops to be out by 2014, the generals are also saying we could continue to have a significant military presence there for another decade. The war has cost $450 billion and the lives of 1,796 American service members. The goal may be to wind down this conflict, but the numbers show we're not having much success. Of those 10 years, this past one has been the most deadly.
