Who we're endorsing: Town Supervisors
Endorsing candidates on Long Island’s ballots has been a tradition at Newsday since we launched more than 80 years ago. It’s the busiest part of our year as we interview the candidates who seek your vote. This season, we are highlighting our picks in dozens of races in this newsletter, as well as in print, on our website and on social media.
This series of newsletters will feature our endorsement for Suffolk County executive. Long Island voters will also choose county legislators and town supervisors in 2023.
The supervisor candidates answered our questions about many key governance issues — from sewers and waste disposal to housing, traffic and roads. Other topics covered included how to protect our waters, improve infrastructure, and handle the migrant crisis. Candidates told us their priorities and explained how their experience could help them tackle the social and economic challenges of the region’s towns, like opioid use, smart budgeting and more.
Interviews took place in person at Newsday’s Melville headquarters, as well as on Zoom.
See our picks for town supervisors below. More supervisor endorsements will come later this month.
Endorsements are determined solely by the Newsday editorial board, a team of opinion journalists focused on issues of public policy and governance. Newsday’s news division has no role in this process.
