Home prices cooled in September from the summer's record highs, but certain price points are still elusive to Long Island buyers.
The median sale price of a single-family home was $860,000 in Nassau County and $740,000 in Suffolk, according to data from multiple listing service OneKey MLS.
Out of more than 750 sales last month, roughly one-quarter were at or below the $600,000 mark, a Newsday analysis of OneKey MLS sales data showed. The price point typically bought three bedrooms and two bathrooms, but it bought more in certain communities, like Central Islip, Shoreham and Selden.
