New year, same trends.

The first month of 2026 saw home prices rise again compared with the previous year. In January, the median sale price for a single-family home was $700,000 in Suffolk and $835,000 in Nassau, according to data from OneKey MLS.

With 39.1% more buyers than sellers, Long Island continued to be the strongest seller's market in the country, Newsday reported. With rising prices, Long Island home seekers are more interested in accessory dwelling units as a way to offset high home costs.
