A grand Muttontown estate, once belonging to the billionaire owner of Brooks Brothers, is on the market for $10.75 million. The taxes are $97,836.
Built in 1916, the mansion boasts nine bedrooms, eight bathrooms and four half-bathrooms. The listing agents are Shawn Elliott and Zach Elliott, of Nest Seekers International, and Ivana Nastro, of Coldwell Banker American Homes.
Shawn Elliott, who has been working in real estate for more than 20 years, would drive by the estate daily while working with other buyers and sellers in the area.

"The gates are so intimidating, that you had me at 'hello,' " Elliott said, of the property's grand entrance. The gates are about 18 feet tall, he estimated. "It's truly just, 'Oh my God, where am I going? Who owns this house?' "
Claudio Del Vecchio purchased the home in 2003, property records show. He is the former CEO, chairman and owner of Brooks Brothers Group Inc. The luxury clothing retailer filed for bankruptcy in 2020.
Del Vecchio sold the estate to its current owner 13 months ago, and the property underwent $2 million in upgrades that were completed about three weeks ago, Elliott said. They include updates to the electrical, insulation, HVAC, security and WiFi systems.
The estate boasts nine bedrooms.
The seller "spent a couple hundred thousand on the roof," Elliott said. "He did some heavy lifting, and it's great."
The house still maintains its historic allure, with original plaster and restored fireplaces throughout the home. Spanning 13,058 square feet, the estate is on Mill River Road, on an 8.17-acre lot. The property is in the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District.
"The Del Vecchios were philanthropic, and had a lot of events there," Elliott said. "So it was great for entertaining. And the ballroom is massive; it must be like 2,000 square feet."

There are numerous notable rooms and features — for instance, two pools: One inside, one outside.
"The indoor pool is a resistance pool," Elliott said. "So you can swim 12 months a year. If you're a swimmer, it's great exercise because you swim against a current. It provides a current, which is very cool."
The mansion sits on over 8 acres of land in Muttontown.
An elevator travels throughout the mansion's four levels. More highlights include a catering kitchen with a walk-in refrigerator, a panic room, walk-in vault and six-car garage. There is also a library, wine cellar and gym.
One unusual room that pet owners will love: a dog spa, which features a table-side sink and separate bathing area, all sized for a pooch in need of a bath.
Outside, there is a tennis court, putting green and a display of English gardens.
"The finishes are to the highest level," Elliott said. "There was no expense spared."
