Syosset High School senior, Alexis Shore, the Long Island Scholar Artist in Nassau County for May

Syosset High School senior, ALEXIS SHORE, is an avid member of her high school's dance program and award-winning Varsity Kickline team. In 2011, her passion for dance led her to train at the Lynch School of Ballet where she also joined the Lynch Ballet Company. As a company member, she danced as a soloist in The Nutcracker and in the 2014 production of Sleeping Beauty.

Alexis' love of dance extends beyond the stage.  During the summer she teaches children in need helping Spanish-speaking immigrant children acclimate into society through academics and dance; she also volunteered at a camp for children with special needs.

Additionally, Alexis is president of Interact where she and her team raised over $60,000 this year for Gift of Life International. This money provided lifesaving heart surgeries to children from developing countries. Also an exceptional writer, she rose from entertainment editor to editor-in-chief of Syosset High School's newspaper, The Pulse.

Alexis plans to pursue dance and nutritional science at Cornell University.
