It is time for a change of pace. That is the 2019 theme for New York’s baseball teams, with the Yankees looking to reverse Boston's dominance this century and the Mets trying a new approach to change their trajectory.

Those are among the plot lines for a sport that is mulling changes to its pace of play. They also are at the heart of our 2019 Baseball Preview. There are stories on how Aaron Judge can help the Yankees avoid having this be their first decade since the 1910s without a World Series appearance, and how Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom and fellow former clients will lead the Mets under agent-turned-GM Brodie Van Wagenen.

We also have a special on the 50th anniversary of history’s great changeup: the amazing 1969 Mets. And in terms of changing places, on the 100th anniversary of the sale of Babe Ruth from the Red Sox to the Yankees, our 11th annual Baseball 101 seminar focuses on the game’s most unforgettable deals. -- Mark Herrmann
