Can the Mets win on the road?

In order for the Mets to have a legitimate shot at being in contention in the National League at season’s end, they will have to learn to win away from Citi Field.

At 30-16, the Mets have one of the best home records in the National League, trailing just Atlanta (30-10), and Colorado (31-16).

Yet only Pittsburgh (11-38), Arizona (13-30), Washington (14-29), and Houston (16-27) – who just so happen to be the four worst teams in the National League – have a poorer road record than the Mets (18-24).

The Mets will be tested early in the second half as they open an 11-game West Coast trip on Thursday against San Francisco. They will then travel to Arizona and Los Angeles. A key trip will come in early August when the Mets head to Atlanta followed by Philadelphia
