Got started a little late today after yesterday's doubleheader, but here's a quick recap:

-- Arthur Staple handled the Mets' sweep of the Dodgers, despite very different outings from Johan Santana and Oliver Perez. Speaking of Perez, Staple mentions that his start next Monday in Cincinnati is safe, according to Jerry Manuel.

-- Kimberley A. Martin reports on David Wright's breakout night, which included his 1,000th hit. Of all the positive things that happened to the Mets during yesterday's doubleheader, this had to be right at the top of the list. Also near the top was Jason Bay's first home run, which Martin writes about here.

-- Finally, I took a closer look at Santana's "weird" day, when he looked more like the 2009 Pedro Martinez than the Santana who won two Cy Young awards. Perhaps the most surprising element of Santana this season is his lack of velocity, which has been missing since the Twins traded him here.
