Lucas Duda started Friday night in leftfield in place of Jason Bay, who said he plans to play Saturday after taking a second game off to rest his tight right hamstring. Bay indicated his leg is fine, but he and Collins decided to play it safe. "The way hamstrings are around here," Bay said, "we gave it an extra day."

The Mets designated Nick Evans for assignment to make room for Wright on the roster.

The Mets claimed outfielder Mike Baxter off waivers from the Padres. Baxter, 26, is a native of Whitestone, Queens, and an Archbishop Molloy graduate.
