Jason Bay hit two home runs in San Juan's Hiram Bithorn Stadium Monday night. The balls were hit to right field, but Bay needs to observe teammate David Wright's evolving swing to have any carryover effect when the Mets return to Citi Field. For righthanded hitters, balls hit to right need to go down the line to become homers.

Bay is hitting .278 with six homers, 18 doubles and 34 runs batted in. He is on target to match his career average in hitting (.280) and doubles (34) but he is well below his average in homers (31) and RBIs (105). He had 36 in Fenway last season where the  Green Monster in left played a big part.

Bay also hit two homers in Hiram Bithorn six years ago when he played for the Pirates. So, don't get too excited.
