Omar Minaya, returned to New York after a quick trip to Port St. Lucie to see Carlos Beltran work out, announced today that Beltran will begin a minor-league rehab assignment on Thursday... In Port St. Lucie.

It'll be different, obviously, because Beltran won't just be playing in simulated games and hitting against Oliver Perez. He'll be facing Class A pitching and playing in real games.

The Mets have 20 days from the start of the rehab assignment to activate Beltran.
