Bobby Abreu, Bartolo Colon not too old to star in Mets' 6-2 win

Cleanup hitter Bobby Abreu was 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Bartolo Colon allowed two runs in 71/3 innings as the Mets beat the San Diego Padres, 6-2, at Citi Field on Friday night in a game delayed at the start by nearly two hours.
Abreu, 40, and Colon, 41, starred in a game that began at 9:06 p.m. after a vicious storm drove through Flushing.
Lucas Duda had two doubles and an RBI, Matt den Dekker had an RBI double and Taylor Teagarden drove in a run with a single for the Mets, who had lost eight of nine.
The Padres, who have lost nine of 11, came into the game last in baseball in runs (200), batting average (.216), on-base percentage (.275) and slugging percentage (.344). But Rene Rivera gave San Diego a 2-0 lead in the second inning with a long home run to left.
Teagarden drove in the Mets' first run with a two-out single in the bottom of the second. Abreu had led off the frame against Andrew Cashner (2-6) with a double.
The Mets took the lead in the fourth on two-out RBI doubles by Duda and den Dekker.
Abreu doubled home Daniel Murphy to make it 4-2 in the fifth -- also with two outs.
"They're huge hits," manager Terry Collins said. "They make a big difference in a lot of games."
In the seventh, David Wright had a sacrifice fly and Abreu delivered an RBI single to give the Mets a four-run cushion.
Colon (6-5) retired 18 in a row after Rivera's home run. He gave up four hits, walked one and struck out seven.
"Knowing him, he was probably quite upset about giving up that home run and said, 'I've got to get after it,' " Collins said.
MRI for Mejia. Closer Jenrry Mejia will be out "a day or so" with lower back stiffness, Collins said. Mejia had an MRI on Friday after he was removed from Thursday's game. Collins admitted that he did not know Mejia felt back pain during his first inning even though Mejia had mentioned it to bullpen coach Ricky Bones before coming in. Collins removed Mejia once he was informed by pitching coach Dan Warthen that Mejia was hurting.
