David Wright's contract reportedly is insured

David Wright's contract is insured, according to a report published by FoxSports.com late Tuesday night. If he is unable to play for 60 days, the Mets reportedly will recoup 75 percent of his contract during his absence. Wright is making $17.5 million this season.

The Mets' captain is on the disabled list after being diagnosed with lumbar spinal stenosis. He is in California to begin physical therapy with a back specialist.

Step forward

Travis d'Arnaud made progress on Tuesday in his quest to return from the disabled list, playing in an extended spring training game in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He caught five innings and went 1-for-3 with a run.

Plawecki back

Kevin Plawecki went 2-for-4 to help the Mets to a 5-4 win over the Phillies. "When the hits aren't falling, it's easy to press a little bit," said Plawecki, who had been 1-for-13 and didn't start the previous two games. "And I was doing that just a little bit. The last couple of days I was able to take a little breather, step back a little bit and try to refocus."

Extra bases

Matt Harvey threw a bullpen session and remains the scheduled starter for Friday's series opener against the Marlins. Terry Collins had said he might be fighting fatigue . . . Vic Black (shoulder) tossed a scoreless inning for Double-A Binghamton. It was the first time in his rehab that he made consecutive appearances, a sign that he's nearing a return. Bobby Parnell (Tommy John surgery) also worked a scoreless inning for Binghamton . . . Rafael Montero (right rotator cuff inflammation) has resumed throwing after an extended period of inactivity.
