David Wright will be placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, retroactive to Monday, after a CT scan confirmed the Mets third baseman has a lower-back stress fracture.
Wright cannot partake in baseball activities for 10 days. After that, he will be re-evaluated at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
Nick Evans, who was in the clubhouse Tuesday, was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo.
Collins high on Tejada
With just a little bit more "seasoning," Ruben Tejada could develop into a serious threat at the plate, the manager said. The 21-year-old, who was recalled Tuesday after Ryota Igarashi and Chin-lung Hu were sent down, is best known for his glove. But Collins believes Tejada's knowledge of the strike zone and two-strike approach will bode well for him in the future.
Beato back
Fresh off the disabled list, Pedro Beato will resume his seventh-inning setup role ahead of Jason Isringhausen and closer Francisco Rodriguez. The righthanded reliever had thrown 17 innings without allowing an earned run before being shut down with elbow tendinitis May 4.
Set for Subway Series
Tuesday night's scheduled starter Jonathon Niese will pitch Wednesday night against Washington, followed by Dillon Gee on Thursday. R.A. Dickey is scheduled to start Friday's Subway Series opener in the Bronx. Chris Capuano will pitch Saturday, then Mike Pelfrey.
Rainout info
Tuesday night's game against the Marlins will be made up July 18 at 7:10 p.m. at Citi Field. Tickets marked "Tuesday, May 17 - Game 21" will be accepted.
