Dickey tries to ace another victory
Based on his earned run average of 2.91, R.A. Dickey emerged as the Mets' best starting pitcher this season.
Dickey (10-6) goes tonight at Citi Field against the Pirates' Zach Duke (7-13, 5.47).
Dickey has a better ERA than injured teammate Johan Santana (2.98) and top National League hurlers such as Cole Hamels (3.06) and Chris Carpenter (3.09).
And Dickey's ERA is not far behind Cy Young candidate Ubaldo Jiminez (2.75).
With Santana's status uncertain for next season, some have deemed Mike Pelfrey the team's No. 1 starter.
However, the title of ace is up for grabs.
