LOS ANGELES -- R.A. Dickey will throw a bullpen session Wednesday as the final test to determine if he can make his scheduled start Friday in San Francisco.
Dickey was forced to leave Sunday's game after five innings because of tightness in the area beneath his glute, and it was the same injury he suffered last season during a July 25 start at Dodger Stadium.
"It's feeling better," Dickey said Tuesday, "but I won't know until then."
Mets sign Batista
The Mets announced the signing of Miguel Batista to a minor-league contract and he will be assigned to Triple-A Buffalo.
Batista was released by the Cardinals on June 22 after he went 3-2 with a 4.60 ERA in one start and 25 relief appearances for St. Louis.
Batista, 40, has pitched for 10 teams, and is 99-112 with 41 saves and a 4.51 ERA in a total of 614 major-league games.
McCourt mistreated?
In court papers filed Tuesday, the attorneys for Dodgers' owner Frank McCourt claim that his case was treated unfairly compared to other clubs in financial distress, The Los Angeles Times reported.
According to the documents, obtained by the Times, McCourt's lawyers claim "velvet-glove treatment enjoyed by other teams with financial questions will help this court and the debtors to evaluate the full extent of MLB's conflict and animus toward the Dodgers."
In particular, the filing brings up the Mets for the terms of the minority sale, "contributions or loans from Bernard Madoff" and Bud Selig's decision not to appoint a monitor to oversee the club or conduct an investigation of the club."
