The Mets found themselves in an embarrassing fix with their manager Friday when an Opening Day e-mail to ticket-holders, supposedly signed by Terry Collins, referred to Josh Thole as Jose Thole.
A Mets spokesman took responsibility for writing the letter -- not an uncommon practice -- and blamed it on a typo. Asked about it during a radio appearance, Collins told WFAN that he not only didn't write the letter, he never read it, either.
