The Mets have announced the two-year, $12-million contract they agreed to with reliever Frank Francisco at the winter meetings. Francisco, 32, is expected to close for the Mets. He went 1-4 with 17 saves and a 3.55 ERA in 54 games with the Toronto Blue Jays last season.
The Mets also signed righthander Jon Rauch at the meetings and obtained another righthander, Ramon Ramirez, in a trade with the Giants in an attempt to bulk up their bullpen.
