G-man starts for the Mets
Dillon Gee (1-0, 1.29) makes his second start for the Mets when they face the Pirates tonight at Citi Field.
Gee allowed one run on two hits over seven innings in beating the Nationals last week. It was his first appearance in the major leagues and he had a no-hitter for five innings.
Gee, the21st pick in the 2007 draft, now has the opportunity to earn a spot in the rotation for 2011.
Gee was born in Cleburne, Tex. He is said to be the second big league player from that area. The other is Spike Owen, who played for several teams, including the Yankees and Red Sox.
