Rookie pitcher Dillon Gee was making about $2,100 a month pitching for Triple-A Buffalo this season.  When the Mets called him up, his salary jumped to a prorated portion of the major league minimum ($400,000) for September.

In Gee's first major league appearance, he allowed one run on two hits in seven innings in beating the Nationals.

Compare that to Nationals rookie Yunesky Maya of Cuba, who was signed to a four year contract worth $6 million.  Also making his first start, Maya gave up four runs on five hits in five innings.
