Gibson's teed with Arizona's icy play

The Mets will see Kirk Gibson as the new interim manager of the Diamondbacks when the teams begin a three-game series tonight  in Arizona. David Lennon is enroute.  

Gibson has had no early success in turning around the Diamondbacks (34-58), the only team in the National League West that is not in contention for at least  the Wild Card.  Some players have said he can be scary and Gibson's let them know what he thinks about their poor play.

Gibson is 3-10 since taking over the team earlier this month. The manager, of course, is best known for his game winning home run off Dennis Eckersley of the A's the 1988 World Series. Perhaps more famous was Jack Buck's ``I don't believe what i just saw!'' call of the homer by  the-then injured Gibson, who hobbled around the bases.  

Gibson, the National League's MVP that season, had a largely unremarkable career with a .268 batting average and 255 career homers in 17 seasons.
