David Wright is expected back this month from his back injury, but Johan Santana, who has missed the entire season after elbow surgery, Alderson said, isn’t expected “to play any meaningful role in a pennant race this year.”
Carlos Beltran was not required to attend yesterday's workout because he played in the All-Star Game.
Jose Reyes took part and is eligible to come off the disabled list Monday, but Alderson said Reyes' hamstring injury is “closer to a three-week injury.”
The Mets called up reliever Ryota Igarashi to take the place of Rodriguez on the roster.
