GMs waiting the wing if Minaya is let go
In a report about the Mets for SI.com, Jon Heyman lists Kevin Towers, Pat Gillick and Rangers GM Jon Daniels, as well in-house candidates John Ricco and Wayne Krivsky, as possible replacements for Omar Minaya.
As experienced GMs, Daniels, Gillick and Towers will command large salaries, and fans would probably rather see the Wilpons put more money into the talent on the field than off, leaving Ricco and Krivsky at the head of the pack.
