The Orioles are a Major League Mess this year. More so than usual. At a league-worst 16-42 so far this year, the team has already fired manager Dave Trembley last week, and are actively seeking a replacement.

Now, the Baltimore Sun is reporting this morning that none other than mustache/glasses costume wearing Bobby Valentine is set to interview. This should disappoint some Mets fans, as Valentine was widely regarded as the fan's choice if/when Jerry Manuel gets the ax. Valentine is currently working as an analyst for ESPN, but the Sun reports that he would return to managing given the right challenge. And perhaps trying to guide the Birds out of the basement of not only the American League East, but all of baseball would be just that.

Ex-Cleveland manager (and a Red Sox catching prospect from yesteryear) Eric Wedge is also rumored to be interviewing. Valentine would be an ideal choice though, as baseball fans love him, and he might actually bring some butts back to the seats at Camden Yards. Charm City has seen a pretty significant downturn in attendence from last year. Come on, Peter Angelos. Make this happen.
