It should be Alderson's job to refuse
David Lennon has been following the Mets' GM search and telling us that Sandy Alderson is expected to meet with the team this week about its opening.
Alderson is the most experienced candidate on the known list of those to be interviewed.
It seems unlikely that Alderson would put himself in the position of being turned down by the Mets if he wants the job, so common sense indicates that it is Alderson's job to turn down.
That could happen if he doesn't see eye-to-eye with the Wipons' vision going forward, but from what both have said they want someone to tell them what that future should be.
