Jason Bay on his plans for the offseason
Jason Bay was at Citi Field yesterday and acknowledged he will not play this week. Not that anyone expect he would. Here's what he had to say:
"Obviously this year’s out of the question, but I’d like to make sure I leave here with no restrictions so the offseason will be a regular offseason. That’s why I’m hoping at this point if I get to the end, I can go to my regular routine, which would be much appreciated.
"I’ll hopefully get on the field (in practice before Sunday), but that’s more my words than anyone else’s. Hopefully I’ll get on the field a few times before (leaving). It’s nothing to do with the concussion, but more to do with being in shape. The last thing I want to do now is pull an oblique or something.
"I usually don’t do any baseball related stuff until January. Take October off and then start my workouts in December. But being that I’ve done nothing the last couple of months, I’m already set up for three days after I get home to start working out. I’ll probably start a little earlier this year, just because it seems like the last few months have been wasted."
