Jason Bay sore, rest of Mets quite pleased
Bay got tripped up by Indians 1b Andy Marte's rear end and left last night's game in the sixth inning with a bruised left quad. Bay was legging out an infield single and was in mid-leap to reach the bag when he collided with Marte's posterior.
Bay said last night he'll be fighting to play tonight; Jerry Manuel indicated that he'd prefer to sit a guy he had to take out of a game. Guessing Manuel wins that one and Jesus Feliciano starts in left.
David Wright is leading the Mets' surging offense with 13 RBI in his last six games, giving him a NL best 52. Seems funny we were all obsessed with his strikeout numbers just a short while ago.
"I wasn't concerned with strikeouts. I could care less about them," he said. "It was everyone else that was talking about them."
Fair enough, but even Manuel said he's seeing a less anxious Wright at the plate, especially with two strikes.
R.A. Dickey tries to complete the sweep tonight here in Cleveland. More on the way today.
