Derek Jeter was a late scratch from Saturday afternoon's game against the Mets, a result of a bruised right heel the shortstop sustained Friday night.

According to a team spokesman, the injury occurred when Jeter was "lunging for a base," though he didn't know the specific inning.

Jeter, who went 1-for-5 Friday, received treatment before the game and was not available to reporters in the clubhouse. The spokesman said Jeter didn't undergo any tests.

Jeter was in the original lineup posted about 9:30 Saturday morning, but less than an hour before the start of the game, a new lineup was posted, this time without the shortstop.

Kevin Russo replaced Jeter at short.
