John Franco speaks about K-Rod
As the Mets closer for most of his 14 seasons with the club, John Franco knows the frustration of struggling in the role. In that regard, he said he could understand what Francisco Rodriguez, who faces a maximum of two years in jail after he was brought up on seven counts of criminal contempt on Wednesday, was going through this season. But Franco never took his emotions off the field.
"I could understand the frustrations on the field, sure," Franco said at a benefit at Citi Field last night. "Off the field, it's his personal business about what occurred. But on the field, everyone who's stepped on the field, whether a former player or current player, goes through some type of frustration. It's such a long season of highs and lows, so you've just got to try and maintain and even keel."
