John Maine leaves game with pain in left elbow
John Maine left tonight's start after 3 2/3 innings with an undisclosed injury or ailment. As soon as we know what it is, we'll tell you.
UPDATE, 8:57 p.m.: Maine left with muscle spasms and pain in his left (non-throwing) elbow. Since the guy who replaced him, Hisanori Takahashi, has six strikeouts in a seven-out span, the Mets may be better off. Maine is day-to-day. He had a similar ailment in July of 2008 when he left a game in Philadelphia with left elbow trouble.
